Via Afrika publishes a comprehensive range of educational materials for schools and FET Colleges. These publications include textbooks, eBooks and other digital products, readers, literature titles, atlases, study guides, wall charts and various teacher support materials for all grades and FET College levels.
Via Afrika, under its Via Afrika Future imprint, has been producing industry-leading digital learning materials for more than a decade. Via Afrika Future's high-quality educational material is currently being used by thousands of learners and teachers country-wide.
Via Afrika, Breadline Africa and the Nelson Mandela Day Library Project have partnered to set up three digital container libraries in Free State, Limpopo and Mpumalanga. The Via Afrika Digital Education Centres (VADECs) contain printed textbooks, fifteen tablets, a computer, all loaded with educational software, more than 400 Via Afrika eBooks and the Via Afrika apps. Wi-Fi and data is sponsored and continuous training ensures that these are true community assets.
The Via Afrika series of printed learners' books and teachers' guides has been further developed by Via Afrika Future into the first CAPS-aligned eBooks in the South African market. These eBooks are enhanced with additional material such as videos, slide shows, audio and simulations that can all be accessed without an internet connection. The eBooks can be used on a PC in flipbook format or on tablets in ePub format.
Via Afrika has also developed a number of educational apps. Via Afrika LivingPages is an augmented reality app, the Via Afrika Test-Urself assessment app and the Play and Learn Foundation Phase, all for mobile devices. The company has successfully introduced innovative 'Talking Textbooks' for FET mathematics, mathematical literacy and physical sciences into the market. These are digital textbooks with audio-visual support and a built-in tutor. The FET mathematics short courses provide short audio-visual tutorials to assist learners in catching-up on difficult concepts.
