National-Higher-Certificate-Matric2 January 2018 – On Thursday 4 January at 18h00 the Minister of Basic Education will release the 2017 National Senior Certificate (NSC) Matric results in a live broadcast on SABC1.

From Friday 5 January well over 800,000 candidates from the Class of 2017 will be able to learn their individual results.

The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) will release the results for their 12,000 matriculation candidates at midnight tonight.

 

Live broadcast

On Thursday Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga will announce the 2017 NSC Matric results to the nation in a live broadcast from 18h00 on SABC 1, SABC DSTV Channel 404, eNCA DSTV Channel 403, www.education.gov.za and all SABC radio stations.

Before the announcement of the results the Director-General will give an in-depth technical briefing into the results, allowing for a greater understanding into how the processes involved in administering the NSC Examinations, marking and scoring.

 

Where to get the results

IEB results
At midnight tonight, 2 January 2018, the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) will release the results for the over 12,000 learners that wrote the IEB NSC exams in October and November 2017. The learners will be able to access their results via www.iebonline.co.za or via SMS when registered for this service.

NSC results
The individual results for the over 800,000 learners who wrote the 2017 NSC examinations will be available on Friday 5 January 2018. Learners will be able to get their results from their schools and examination centres. The results will also be published in major daily newspapers.

The Department of Education provides an online service via their website which is available from 5 January. Learners need to provide their ID number and exam number to gain access to their results.

SABC Education offers an SMS and USSD service which is available to learners from 20 December 2017 until 31 January 2018. Learners send their ID number and exam number to SMS number 35658 or dial *120*35658#. SMSs cost R1 and USSD rates apply. The Matric results will be available from 5 January.
